The Survival Kit for Parents.

The title of this work can be misleading. Far from being just a lifeline to alleviate the torpor of parents in crisis, it is also a soft cushion, full of gentleness and comfort for those who are already doing well enough. A remedy against failures, a force of defiance against both internal and external social pressures, for a better realization of oneself.

I still have in the back of my mind these words from an Asian speaker who pointed out, oh so pertinently, that we are trained for every function or task that we happen to practice in our lives. Think about it: learning to drive, cook, write, do accounting, masonry… But for the most important one—being a parent—it's sink or swim! An expertise we learn on the job.

Of course, there is an element of experience that can only be grasped by those who live it, but it is also knowledge, and knowledge is merely a lesson, a sum, the essence of others' lived experiences. It is offered to us through the piece to help us navigate better.

My friends still remind me of it to the day I shared with them on social media these words: "I didn’t know babies don’t sleep at night."

Here is a work that helps to understand better, to regain composure, to do one's part better, to forgive oneself, and to give back in a different way. A space to let the strong winds pass, so that we may regain our balance.

Ramatoulaye Fall offers us a work of infinite reach, which regenerates and infuses us with a different energy each time we turn to it. The context for our children has drastically changed. A response is needed as to reinventing oneself while keeping the essence intact.

Soxna Rama, this Yaay Fall, deciphers with dedication a dense, thorny field. A work that originally spanned more than 400 pages, she offers us the quintessence, in a vibrant posture. The work also relies on powerful, evocative illustrations created in collaboration with Oumar Watt. She tackles this challenge with the ease of experience and a deeply human decency.

Madame Fall paints for us, with love and generosity, a bird of peace with plumage in deep, infinite shades. The idea behind the book’s chapters (Introspection, Projection, Therapy, Critical Thinking, Decision, Strategy, Construction) gives us a clear enough idea.

Each page is a powerful and light wing that lifts us higher, beyond mere decorum and benevolence, allowing us to inhale "Rahma"—a unique, spiritual experience.
